Zero Waste // Bad and Unnecessary Habits
Posted On 16. July 2015
Hey Chicks! I thought I might talk a bit about our bad habits. See, I never expect my family or my friends to be as extreme in their lifestyle as zero waste may seem. That would simply be a unrealistic. However, whenever I grocery shop with people I know, I simply cannot help to suggest a more eco-friendly alternative. After all, we’re all in the same boat and I see no reason why people should not engage in this matter. Simple things like skipping the plastic bag for your fruit and veggies. There seem to be a million excuses out there for why ‘I’ should not engage, but they all seem paper thin in my opinion. Fair enough, you do not want to change your entire life, but why not just try, mini scale style, especially when I tend to ask if we can skip the plastic. The answer I am met with often included a blank ‘no’. There is only one reason why skipping plastic is important: Every year 1 trillion plastic bags are produced, and very few of these are being recycled. It is a strange thing like plastic bags many people tend to think is necessary, due to hygiene or some other excuse. I see people everyday using one plastic bag per sort of fruit, and why? Redefine what is important for you, and cut clutter, like plastic bags, out of that equation. It makes me sad that we, and by ‘we’ I mean people of the world, find security in habits that are, in the end, useless and unnecessary. I apologize if this seems harsh or unfair, but I had to get this off my chest! I hope you have an amazing day!
