Hamburg Journal // Day II

Hello everybody! My second day in Hamburg is nearly over (I am at a restaurant, waiting for the Impossible Burger omg) so I thought I wanted to give you a recap. I am not even going to apologize for the amount of Hamburg-spam, because I am excited to be here.

I got a chance to visit 12 Monkeys today, an all-vegan supermarket which also happened to have a few bulk sections. I think I am the only person who has traveled to Germany and brought home pasta. I also got the change to try out a few vegan chocolate bars that I have never seen before, there are so many German vegan products and I felt so sad that I couldn’t bring any of the refrigerated stuff home. Next time I am going to Hamburg I am definitely finding an Airbnb so I can cook in my own kitchen.

After shooting my video I found a pizza place that made it easy to make my own vegan pizza, simply by skipping the cheese. I got a side salad though, to top it off with some fresh greens and sprouts. I couldn’t eat all of it, which is why the eco lunchbox came in handy. I saved it for later and snacked it in bed when I got back to the hotel, shamelessly.

No trip to Germany without German classics, right? At Vincent Vegan, they have plant-based currywurst and custom beer. I think vegan sausage is my absolute favorite replacement food. Served with ketchup and curry powder, it was completely to die for. Btw this trip has not been the healthiest, food-wise I am aware, but in my defense, I have walked back and forth through Hamburg, so I think I deserve the treats.

Oh, and Vincent Vegan serve their food plastic free, a place after my heart.

Do you know the feeling when you suddenly realize that your entire trip has revolved around food? I get that all. the. time. I tried to mix it up a bit by sprinkling some light thrift -and vintage shopping in there. I have been on the look-out for a pair of vintage denim shorts for years and years but I still have not found the perfect pair. I want them to be slightly ripped and distressed, but not too revealing, ya feel? The vintage shopping happened in Vintage & Rags, a store which I can definitely recommend.
